Section 4.)   Calculation of Scores
The calculation of scores is a multi-level format. At the end of the show season, all cats will be scored on a Level One formula as follows: Add all points earned for wins, as noted in Section 3 above, and divide by the total number of rings in which the cat competed - up to twenty-four (24). After a cat has competed in a total of 24 rings only the BEST 24 rings (i.e. the 24 rings in which it received it's highest final awards) will be used in calculating the cat's average points per ring. A perfect level one score for a cat being exhibited during the year will be 24 Best Cat Allbreed for an average of "50" points per ring.

If, at the end of Level One scoring, any cats in a class, breed or color have identical scores, those cats will move on to Level Two scoring as follows:   Awards in which the Level Two scoring formula will apply are   A) Inter-American Top 50 Cats, B) Inter-American Best of Breed, and C) Regional Top 10 Cats. After Level Two scoring, the cat determined as winner will be placed in the position of contention. The other cat(s) will drop into positions indicated by the outcome of the Level Two scoring. (i.e. three cats with the same score for 7th Best Cat will be come 7th, 8th, 9th Best Cat as determined by Level Two.)   Once Level Two scoring has been completed, it will impact on any and all subsequent lower level ties for which they may also be in direct competition.

Section 5.)   Level Two Scoring Formula
The Level Two scoring formula is based on the following two rules:

Rule 1:   The score of the cats with the same Level One score will be calculated a second time using only the first four (4) scored from the first judge as computed alphabetically. If there is no difference in the scores at this point, then Rule 2 will be applied.

Rule 1:   Using the list of scored derived from Rule 1, noting the highest four (4) scores received from that judge, the following procedure will apply:
  • a.)   The number of AB Best Cats are counted up to 24. If the number of AB Best Cats are the same, then the number of SP Best Cats (or higher) are counted, up to 24. (NOTE: AB Best Cats received in excess of 24 may be counted as SP Best Cats.)
  • b.)   If the score is still the same, then the number of AB 2nd Best Cats (or higher) are counted, up to 24. If the score is still equal to another cat, then the number of SP 2nd Best Cats (or higher) are counted, up to 24. (NOTE: AB 2nd Best Cats received in excess of 24 may be counted as SP 2nd Best Cats.)
  • b.)   If the score is still the same at this point, then the same process is used all the way down to AB and SP 5th Best Cat, until there is a difference
NOTE: For all purposes of Rule 2, "AB (or higher) refers only to Allbreed wins, whereas, "SP" (or higher) refers to Specialty OR Allbreed wins. AB wins used for SP wins must be of the same level or higher that the SP win being counted. (i.e. IF the 3rd Best SP Cat wins are being counted, then only 3rd Best AB Cat (or higher) may be substituted for this SP win.)
